REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Fees

Standard Fee. The standard fee to register for the 31st Underwater Mining Institute is US$325, if prepaid by September 15, 2001. This fee covers the welcoming reception and registration, both technical sessions (including light lunches and materials), and the UMI banquet.

Registration to the UMI also entitles you to the Year 2002 membership to the International Marine Minerals Society, a non profit professional organization promoting interchange between government, academic, and industry expertise on marine minerals interests.

Single Day Fee. The single-day fee is US$225, if prepaid by September 15, 2001.

Student Fee. The student fee is US $75. This includes the welcoming reception and registration, both technical sessions (with lunch) and materials, and the UMI banquet. Students must provide verification of student status and be willing to assist during the conference, if needed.

Late Registration Fee. A late fee of US$25 will be added to registrations received after September 15, 2001.

Field Tour. This optional Geotechnical Tour of the Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park includes surface transportation, entry, and lunch on the final day of the UMI at an additional cost of US$30 per person.

Spouses Tour. This optional tour is designed for spouses, guests, and children while the UMI participants are in session on Thursday, 1 November. The cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children.

Banquet Fee. The banquet fee of US$35 is an additional cost for single-day registrants and guests to the UMI. Children are welcome to enjoy the affair at a special rate of $10 (10 years and younger).

Payments

Please submit the enclosed Registration Form with your payment. Checks in U.S. currency drawn on a U.S. bank, or bank drafts, should be made payable to Research Corporation of the University of Hawaii and mailed to the UMI conference coordinator. Payments may also be made by credit card, cashier's check, or money order. For wire transfer, please contact the conference coordinator for details.

Refunds

Refunds will be made for written cancellations received by September 30, 2001.

Accommodations for guests are available at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, 71 Banyan Drive, Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Special room rates are available for UMI participants at $84 (ocean view) and $70 (banyan tree view) plus 11.416% taxes. Exhibits

Exhibits are welcome at the cost of the standard UMI registration.. For arrangements, please inquire with the UMI Conference Coordinator.
