Privacy Statement

The International Marine Minerals Society (IMMS), sponsor of the Underwater Mining Conference, maintains a database of individuals representing government, industry, and academic institutions who are interested in the study of and or the development of marine minerals and mining.

This online database is a design by Abila, a leader in satisfying the business needs of associations, non-profits, and member-based organizations such as ours. Their netFORUM technology organizes our data and integrates it into business processes for our membership, marketing, commerce, and accounting needs.

What Type of Information Does IMMS Collect?

We collect contact information that may include: name, titles, affiliations, business addresses (postal, email, website), business numbers (phone, fax, mobile), and other business related information [e.g., short biographical sketch provided by participants; and society activities such as conference host or speaker, a founding member, a sponsor]. Home contact information may be collected when the individual is retired, or consults from home.

What Does IMMS Do with the Information?

We use the database to organize and track the individual’s activity with IMMS as follows:

Who Has Access to the Information?

The administrative staff only of IMMS manages the database.

IMMS Members may login with a password to access a limited Members Only portion of the Avectra database. They may view and update their own member profile (contact information and biographical sketch) and view past transactions for membership and conference activity. Members may search for and view only other member profiles that which include limited contact details (name, title, affiliation, address, phone and email addresses).

Our database is not shared with any other entity, public or private.

We take reasonable measures to safeguard all personal information.
